Sharon Interfaith Action (SIA)
About Us
Our many faith traditions call us to love our neighbors and to work for justice. Sharon Interfaith Action (SIA) was created in 2017 to reach across economic, racial, and class divides to develop relationships and partner with those people most directly impacted by injustice. SIA is a community organizing group confronting local issues of racial and economic justice. We partner with BIC, mobilizing the power of our faith communities to manifest the world as it should be.
Our work is grounded in the development of loving relationships, and focused on holding public officials accountable to the needs of the entire community.
Our Work
Sharon Interfaith Action is dedicated to promoting dialogue and action on various issues within the community. SIA endorses coordinated efforts to address statewide concerns. One focal point is to tackle healthcare accessibility and affordability, important for the accessibility as well as affordability of care for all. SIA also supports commitment to state level social justice, such as an Elder Justice Unit, a Reproductive Justice Unit, and a Gun Violence Prevention Unit. Of particular significance is a Police Accountability Unit.
SIA promotes eradicating racial disparities within the policing system by thoroughly examining systemic roots of police violence and fostering cultural change within police units. Sharon Interfaith Action greatly values the opportunity to collaborate with influential state figures, as it aligns with their mission to foster inclusivity and equality within the community.
